Ancestors

This is just a brief summary of our family history.
You will need the Acrobat PDF Reader to display the charts below.
If the buttons do not work you may need to load the FREE PDF reader by Clicking here. The inital display may seem small but the PDF reader allows you to "Zoom in" until it is much too big ! If in doubt press the "LEE" button below, scroll down and see what happens !
This may not be the latest research information, we have deliberately not included many references to living people, if you want up to date information or more detail use the "Send message" button below. Most people who know us will realise or be able to guess the significance of Lee, Teakle, Wembridge or Anstice but what are the significance of Heaven, Crowley, Lamprey, Lord, Morgan, Phillips or Norris ? We have now included Ancestors charts alongside the original Descendant charts.

Ancestor Charts

Ancestor charts start on the left and show the Parents, Grandparents, Great Grandparents etc. expanding out to the right. If you seem to get a blank page, scroll down to see the charts.

Descendant Charts

Descendant charts Pick on one relative generations back and show each family including brothers and sisters, more information but less relevant?

The LEE family has been traced back to Robert Lee who was born in 1630 in Pewsey, Wiltshire, Tom Henry Lee came to Wales around 130 years ago and married Sarah Stokes from Tongwynlais. Tom Henry lived and worked in the Rhondda Valley where his two brothers joined him. Sarah died in the 1950s. For many generations there was a common second name of "Salmon".

The WEMBRIDGE name goes back to William Wembridge and Mary Ann Player living in Combe St Nicholas, Somerset. William Wembridge was a thatcher. John Thomas Wembridge was one of William's ten children and moved to Cardiff in the early 1900's. Some of his siblings and his children had large families so there are a lot of cousins !

The TEAKLE branch has been traced back to Stroud in Gloucestershire. Includes the surnames RODWAY, TURNER, SAVERY and a few more. We are slowly getting more information but it has not been helped by many ways officials decided to spell the name Teakle on Civil records. Grannie Rose was born Rosina Elizabeth LAMPREY.

The ANSTICE branch is traced back to Newport and Pill in Bristol in the late 18th century , they had strong links with the docks and shipping.

The CROWLEY family came to Cardiff from Ireland between 1841 and 1851 and lived in the heart of "Little Ireland" also known as Newtown a small community of very small houses off Tyndall street. the houses were demolished in the 1960's as part of the Cardiff Bay development. Later in 1894 Florence Crowley was living 1 Cairn street Street, Known today as Rhymney Street.

The NORRIS family were living in Eisteddfod Street, Temperance Town, Cardiff in 1861. These houses have long gone, the Empire pool was built on the site and this has now gone to make way for the Millennium Stadium ( I am sure that must entitle us to a debenture or two! )

The MORGAN family have many connections in both Cardiff and Forest of Dean. Lillian Morgan was born in Cardiff and married John Thomas Wembridge. Thomas Morgan was a farmer near Newent and was born in 1782 in Aston Ingham. After Thomas there were generations of Painters, Glaziers and Paper hangers, a skill that has not been passed this far. William Valentine Morgan lived in Cyfartha Street off City road in Cardiff. This was then a new suburb. Unfortunately William was killed at Ypres in the first World War.

The LORD family originates form Hinkley, Leicester. Walter and Polly were twins born in 1879, unfortunately their 18 year old Mother, Mary Ellen Lord, died during childbirth. The twins were living with a nurse for the 1881 census but were raised by their Grandfather and his wife. Walter died in 1948 shortly after returning from visiting Polly who had moved to the U.S.A.
